of Joining the
Alaska Family Child Care Association.

The Alaska Family Child Care Association is made up of family child care providers, making AFCCA a great source of information, support and networking among child care providers as well as years of experience and vast knowledge to that comes with each member.

Participating in AFCCA can help in the prevention of feelings of burnout and isolation through our many networking opportunities. Providers participating in our association also builds confidence, professionalism and a better understanding of the importance of the child care profession.
The AFCCA meets several times during the month to share ideas, providing our EduCARE Training Workshops, offering support, a chance to network with other providers as wells our board meetings. We offer our “For the Love of Kids” Newsletter containing pertinent information on training, activities, and child care issues as well as information for the food program and other agencies such as the grant program and licensing. We are here for providers to help them grow and learn and become professionals in their field.

By joint the AFCCA, providers will learn more about their profession from the Municipality, State and National level through information brought to you in your newsletter and training while serving as united voice and having our ears in and listening to child care issues.

As a member you will receive a newsletter containing information on AFCCA, licensing and legislative information and other important information concerning child care and family issues as well as those pertaining to the safety and benefit of all children.

The AFCCA sponsors the annual “For the Love of Kids” Training Conference. Members enjoy discounts to the conference as well as professional training and certificates, a chance to network with several providers from across the state, and sharing the sense of pride in the work they are doing in their field. Attending the conference will help providers to meet and/or exceed training requirements as well as building excitement and knowledge that can be taken back with you to your facility.

The AFCCA also sponsors the Alaska Family Child Care Food Program offering the USDA CACFP to participates to ensure a good nutritional foods are being offered to our children. AFCCFP also provides training in accordance with the federal requirements.

There is so much more we could share with you about benefits of joining the Alaska Family Child Care Association...but you will have to join us to find out! What would be the fun of me telling you everything...join us and discover the excitement of the AFCCA.

1. Members have the right to vote for AFCCA Board of Directors.
2. Members have the right to vote for Volunteer of the Year.
3. Members have the right to vote on any questions or motions placed before members at membership/board meetings and/or mail in ballots.
4. Members may serve on the AFCCA Board of Directors.
5. Members may serve on any AFCCA’s Committees.
6. Members may take part in advocacy of family child care.
7. Members may attend and participate in AFCCA Meetings, EduCARE Training Workshops, Conference, and all AFCCA’s Functions and Activities at a discounted rate offered to the community.
8. Members will receive Certificates of Participate for AFCCA’s EduCARE Training Workshops.
9.  Members will receive Proof of Participate Stickers for workshops attended at the “For the Love of Kids” Conference.
10. Members will receive AFCCA’s Membership Certificate, Membership Card and Membership Number.
11. Members will be eligible to apply for AFCCA’s EduCARE Training Workshop and AFCCA’s “For the Love of Kids” Conference scholarships when offered.
12. Members may have use of AFCCA’s Lending Library.
13. Members will be notified through AFCCA’s “For the Love of Kids” Newsletter, announcements at workshops and meetings of State and Local Legislative actions concerning family child care providers To keep you informed of what your lawmakers are doing!
14. Members will receive AFCCA’s “For the Love of Kids” Newsletter.
15. Members may advertise in AFCCA’s “For the Love of Kids” Newsletter for a fee for ads, with an exception to facility openings may be listed free.
16. Members who have facility openings may advertise their openings in AFCCA’s “For the Love of Kids” Newsletter, AFCCA’s Website and on AFCCA’s Community Bulletins free of charge.
17. Members will have opportunities for Networking with other family child care providers and members.
18. Members will have opportunities to participate in Support Groups for family child care providers.
19. Members may receive Mentoring. We offer you support when you have questions regarding your business or if you simply need to talk to someone about your business.
20. Members will have the privilege of discounts and/or offers by AFCCA’s Community Partners.
