Membership Benefits of Joining the
Alaska Family Child Care Association
The Alaska Family Child Care Association is made up of family child care provider, parents concerned about quality child care, agencies and staff working with family child care providers to improve the quality of child care and more. This makes AFCCA a great source of information, support and networking among child care providers as well as years of experience and vast knowledge that comes with each member.
Participating in AFCCA can help in the prevention of feelings of burnout and isolation through our many networking opportunities. Providers participating in our association also build confidence, professionalism and a better understanding of the importance of the child care profession.
The AFCCA meets several times during the month to share ideas, providing training workshops, offering support, a chance to network with other providers as well as monthly board meetings. We offer our "For the Love of Kids" Newsletter containing pertinent information on training, activities, and business related information. We are here for providers to help them grow and learn and become professionals in the field of child care.
By joining AFCCA, providers will learn more about thier profession from the Municipality, State and National level through information brought to you in your newsletter and training while AFCCA serves as a united voice who stays alert to the child care issues.
As a member, you will receive a newsletter containing information on AFCCA, licensing and legislative information and other information concerning child care and family issues as well as those pertaining to the safety and benefit of all children.
The AFCCA Sponsors an annual "For the Love of Kids" Child Care Conference. Members enjoy discounts to the conference as well as professional training and certificates, a chance to network with several providers from across the state, and sharing the sense of pride in the work they are doing in their field. Attending the conference will help providers to meet and/or exceed training requirements as well as building excitement and knowledge that can be taken back with you to your facility.
The AFCCA also sponsors the Alaska Family Child Care Food Program. AFCCFP offers the USDA CACFP (Child Adult Care Food Program) to participants to ensure a good nutritional foods are being offered to our children. AFCCFP also providers training in accordance with the federal requirements.
AFCCA along with other agencies working with family child care provider joined together to celebrate and recognize the importance of the work of family cihld care by nominating family child care providers and selecting one as Provider of the Year.
The AFCCA also participates in Worthy Wage Day nationally recognized on May 1st and Provider Appreciation Day in May always nationally recognized on the Friday before Mother's Day.
AFCCA thinks it is important to recognize the importance of family child care and its importance of keeping families working, thus ensuring a strong economy within our state. AFCCA makes request to the Alaska Govornor for a proclaimation to recognize Family Child Care Week and Provider Appreciation Day.
AFCCA celebrated their 25th Anniversary, August 2008 at it's annual "For the Love of Kids" Day event. This annual event has been held each year in August to celebrate the founding of the Alaska Family Child Care Association and the work that we do with kids. "For the Love of Kids" Day has been celebrated since 2005.
The Alaska Family Child Care Association loves to include the kids in events as well. Each year, AFCCFP holds an Edible Credible Holiday Crafts that the kids can eat. AFCCA holds FUN in the SUN: Training in the Park and more! After all it is "For the Love of Kids"...Right! These workshops allow providers to bring children along to activities for hands-on training with the kids.
